The Concept

The kamàndalu is a bowl used by yogis, sadhus and ascetics in India to store drinking water. The ancient Hindus made them from the gourds of the kamandalataru tree, although nowadays it is more common to find them made of copper or steel.

The kamàndalu contains water, that is life, and symbolises a simple and detached existence, this is the essence of our space.

Our philosophy is based on the pillars of the yoga method in which Vairāgya, is the detachment from the results of our actions, desires, aversions, fears, jewellery, possessions, and abhyāsa, is the attitude of persistent effort to achieve the lifestyle that leads in the positive direction.

About me

My name is Laura Micheletti, I’m italian and after a long period of university studies in international communication focused on Hindi, Indian culture, history and philosophy, travel and personal growth, I reinvented my own idea of life: respect for natural rhythms, simplicity, detachment, discipline and yoga became core values to cultivate my own inner strength.

Over the years my work as a Hindi interpreter, my passion for self-sufficient craftsmanship and the practice of yoga merged. I see yoga as a craft of body, breath and mind. Craft km0 as yoga of matter, as a repetitive practice that keeps strong the austere connection of man with nature, calming the passions that make us restless.

I came to Mallorca for work in 2014 and I felt it was my place to live. So I created Espai Kamàndalu with my family. To share my path, focused on a natural, consistent life, present in the here and now, and to share it with my children and with others with the aim of leaving the smallest trace of my earthly transit.

The space

In our Espai Kamàndalu in Artà, craft workshop, shop and yoga school flow and nourish each other organically.

Natural materials collected in the surroundings of Artà fill the workshop and the shop, promoting a local and ethical economy based on a centuries-old tradition. They express a minimalist, unpretentious, austere style, rooted in the territory and give life to high quality handmade products that you will find in our shop, along with a careful selection of unique objects.

In the room, the yoga method in its purest form helps to trigger a process of purification and self-healing of the body through movement, postures and breathing. Self-knowledge begins with the physical, tangible part and with repetition and discipline penetrates into the more subtle aspects.
